Lucas scoops Farringdon redevelopment

Lucas has won a major painting contract for an office redevelopment in Farringdon just on the edge of the City of London. Stonecutter Court is a 13 storey plus basement high quality office building that will add retail units at ground level and create a new pocket park for the neighbourhood. The building will provide flexible work spaces and the developers are aiming for a BREEAM “Excellent” rating.

Lucas has won the painting package for the refurbished and extended former Grade II listed IBM Building at South Bank in central London next to the National Theatre. The 1980s “brutalist” commercial building at 76 Southbank was designed by Sir Denys Lasdun for IBM who have now moved out. The building is being completely refurbished and extended by Stanhope to provide 420,000 sq ft of flexible modern office space along with some retail use, securing the long term future of the building.

Wildlife is in trouble, says the Museum, so it wants to motivate children and adults and give them the tools to help protect nature. The first step is to transform its own five acres of grounds around the Museum in South Kensington into a welcoming, accessible and diverse green space.

Lucas has won the main decorations package for the first phase of a major development by Berkeley Homes called TwelveTrees Park. This regeneration development is adjacent to West Ham underground station in East London. The first phase of private development comprises two tall buildings of 33 and 35 storeys, delivering over 400 studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments. The current masterplan for the whole site envisages over 3,800 homes, 12 acres of green spaces, shops, restaurants and a new school.

Super congratulations to Lucas Project Manager Kris Gradev who has won the monthly health and safety award at 36-38 Berkeley Square. The Lucas team has been on site since the end of last year decorating and applying specialist coatings throughout this new nine storey commercial development with a two level basement. It will provide 85,000 sq ft of office space along with retail and gallery spaces and substantial terraced gardens. It is the first new build in this iconic Mayfair square for over 20 years.

Lucas Commercial Manager Manraj Binning deserves to raise a glass this week. He has just secured a BSc Hons. first class in Quantity Surveying after five years of hard studying at Greenwich University. He earned his HNC after two years in 2020 and has now completed his degree over three further years under a day release scheme while at the same time working very successfully at Lucas HQ.

Lucas has secured the full decorations package for a luxury retirement development in Hampstead, North London. It is called The Oren by Elysian Residences and comprises 40 luxury two and three bedroom apartments and four fabulous penthouses all with their own outdoor spaces. The development will include a restaurant and wellness centre as well as providing residents with a full suite of services.

Lucas has deployed its operatives working in the Canada Water area of London’s Docklands to decorate a large building for the Paper Garden, a community project based at a former paper store previously used by the Daily Mail. The Paper Garden is run by Global Generation, an education charity working with local children, residents and businesses and championing environmentally responsible communities.

Lucas has secured another major decorating project on the Rotherhithe Peninsula. We have won the painting package for Canada Water Plot A2, a mixed use development of six storeys above ground and two basement levels. A leisure centre complex is under construction from the ground downwards to include a swimming pool, sports hall and various play areas. Quality commercial offices are under construction above ground.
