A specialist heritage team from Lucas has completed an exciting and historically important project at 78 St James’s Street, a prime refurbishment and development of a Georgian Grade II* listed building in London’s West End clubland.

The façade and main building has been carefully maintained and refurbished and a new 10-storey Grade A office building with a large atrium built behind it.

Lucas initially carried out a programme of early works on site and was subsequently tasked with a wide range of decorations. We precisely applied Dulux heritage coatings to a series of magnificent, original Georgian rooms including a saloon, morning room and billiards room. We also applied specialist resin coatings to back of house areas, which in this instance included a wine cellar.

The team decorated the new offices created in the original building and throughout the newly built office accommodation, atrium, basement areas and a new underground car park. We carefully refurbished and hand-painted all external metalwork which unusually included historic railings, a staircase, gates, balustrades, lamp posts….and even a flagpole!

The project was carried out for the Construction Manager Mace on behalf of developer BentallGreenOak.
