Lucas has completed a series of linked decoration packages for the ambitious redevelopment of the town centre at Woking in Surrey.

We initially undertook enabling works for a new Hilton Hotel and for other areas of the development, then embarked on a detailed decorations programme for new build-to-rent apartments that were

completed in stages throughout 2021.

Our painting teams managed the full decoration of 429 studio, one and two bedroom high specification apartments in two new tall towers of 34 and 32 storeys. The two towers are at the heart of the redevelopment that includes the new hotel, retail space anchored by Marks and Spencer, public plazas and new car parking.

Our work expanded to include applying specialist coatings in the core and back of house areas of the new car park as well as re-routing an existing car park through new signage and road markings. The team also decorated shop fronts in the Bandstand Mall, the entrance to a new extension at Export House in the town centre, and basement areas extending across the redevelopment.

Lucas worked for the main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine and the £540 million development is a joint venture between Woking Borough Council and the Moyallen Group.
