Construction of an office building is far more than the physical aspect of walls, floors and ceilings. With the BSkyB Meeting Centre – also known as The Hub – there was a real desire to make a stunning working environment for all those working within. Lucas was called upon by main contractor Lend Lease to bring its particular expertise to much of the fit out work in toilets, and the paint finishes.

Situated in the Osterley area of West London, the building has been designed to promote open plan working in a warehouse style. This building sits alongside the broadcasting giant’s new headquarters and main television studios. The building has over 7,000m2 of floor space spread over three floors and houses offices, a restaurant, conference suites, shower and changing rooms.

Teams from the fit out and finishing sectors of Lucas were called in to carry out work on this prestigious project. Work included complete washroom fit outs with the installation of dry walling, ceilings and shower and toilet cubicles. The installation programme includes installing back-painted glass panels, sanitaryware, ceramic tiling, mirrors and Corian vanity tops.

On the painting side, not only did Lucas provide the expert application squad and equipment, it is also supplied specialist water based paint from the MSP range. Muralplast MSP (Multi Surface Paint) can be used on surfaces not usually able to take a coating without specialist extensive pre-treatment and priming. This includes plastics, glass and galvanised surfaces.

Once again, the extremely high quality of the Lucas product range combined with the attention to detail afforded by the fit out and painting teams have ensured that the desired level of finish has been achieved for this prestigious building and has lead to Lucas carrying out further projects for BSkyB at their Osterley campus.
