Lucas Fit Out completed one of its biggest data centre projects yet, undertaking the £2.6 million fit out of a very large, secure data centre and adjoining office building for Mace in the Greater London area.

This was a fastrack programme requiring an intense commitment by our team to ensure the tight schedule was met. The client and the exact location remain confidential.

A new internal steel structure and a first floor concrete slab were installed by the construction team inside a huge, existing industrial building. Our specially- trained team then installed large, insulated and metal-clad whitewall panels with hygienic surfaces to create seven dust-free data halls, uninterrupted power supply and battery rooms, along with back up plant and electrical intake rooms.

We also created a number of high security rooms to Home Office standards using metal reinforced building components set to very tight tolerances.

We installed over 100 metal and timber door sets, fitted security doors, handrails and bump rails and carried out all the firestopping and insulation works for the centre. We applied specialist resin coatings to areas above the valuable electronic equipment and computers housed in the facility.

We also completely fitted out the adjoining two-storey office building including drywall, joinery, demountable glazed partitions, all decorations and soft flooring, toilets and shower rooms, and the boardroom. Lucas Fit Out have completed a number of data centre projects across London and the south east, mostly for clients in banking and financial services.

This latest project extended our expertise to creating rooms in sterile conditions with hygienic surfaces.

We have built a strong reputation in this specialist sector of fit out that requires exceptional measures to protect data halls and the valuable and vulnerable equipment housed within them.
